Hi there,

You’ve seen this message before: Can you update the doc?

You think: Which doc? That doc

This ambiguity compounds. It slows execution.

⚡ Supercharge of the Week

Remote Octopus recommends clearly specifying the target destination of cross-functional asks, including the relevant URL.

When you omit the URL, you create unnecessary Slack noise.

Teams will go back-and-forth to identify which doc? This doc? It slows teams down significantly. It is completely preventable.

Next time, clearly specify the destination of the ask with a URL from the start.

EXAMPLE IN ACTION

Instead of: Can you add this note to the doc?

Try: Can you add this note to tomorrow’s agenda?

EXAMPLE IN ACTION

Instead of: I tagged you in a comment, can you answer it today?

Try: I tagged you in a comment here, can you answer it later today?

Simple, fast, and clearly identifies what you mean by this doc.

Keep things moving,

Claire Wescott
